Descrizione

The Dominican Monastery of San Marco offers the chance to see with our own eyes places that were involved in the history of the Medici of the 15th century in their good and hard times, following the memories of Michelozzo and Fra Angelico at the time of Cosimo the Elder, and the ones of Savonarola and Fra Bartolomeo in the period of Laurence the Manificent and, eventually, the Florentine Republic. The venue is a State Museum, but the structure and decoration of the building is still the same of the old times, when the friars retired in contemplation in their cells decorated while praying by Fra Angelico. The tour continues with the visit of the Last Supper (middle of the 15th century) by Andrea del Castagno in the ex-convent of Sant’Apollonia.
